The white coat ceremony, which was held in two stages due to the COVID-19 measures, at the Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu Republic Hall, was attended by University of Kyrenia Rector Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu, Vice Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Rüveyde Bundak, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Gökmen Dağlı, general secretary, deans, institute directors, vocational school principals, chief physicians, faculty members, students and their families.
During the White Coat ceremony 78 students recited their oath altogether under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Rüveyde Bundak.

The first lecture on “Methodology of Science – Relational Integrity” given by Prof. Dr. Halil İbrahim Seçer followed with great interest by the students and guests.

At the ceremony where the future doctors wore their white coats for the first time, University of Kyrenia Rector Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu and Vice Rector and Dean of Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Rüveyde Bundak gave speeches.

Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu: “We will graduate our students, who have joined our Faculty of Medicine in order to realize their dreams, as well-equipped physicians thanks to the education they will receive from distinguished academics.”
Starting his speech by congratulating the students who have joined University of Kyrenia Faculty of Medicine because of their big effort, University of Kyrenia Rector Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu said, “We will graduate our students, who join our Faculty of Medicine to realize their dreams, as well-equipped physicians with the education they will receive from our distinguished academics.”
Stating that the University of Kyrenia kept on growing during the COVID-19 period by adding the Faculty of Health Sciences new building and the Grand Library to its structure. Prof. Dr. Salihoğlu expressed his gratitude by pointing out the importance of the continuous support of the Günsel Family to the University of Kyrenia.

Prof. Dr. Salihoğlu, underlined the social importance of the profession of medicine by reminding a quote of former chief physician of Burhan Nalbantoğlu Nicosia State Hospital, Dr. Bülent Dizdarlı : “When you graduate from the Faculty of Medicine, you become a doctor, but when you end the relationship between your job and money, you become a physician”,

Prof. Dr. Rüveyde Bundak: “We provide qualified and complete education with fully equipped infrastructure facilities”
Dean of University of Kyrenia Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Rüveyde Bundak said that in 2016, following the inauguration of the Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kyrenia Hospital, as faculty they started to accept their first students. Stating that they provide education and health services in parallel at fully equipped Dr. Suat Günsel University of Kyrenia Hospital, Prof. Dr. Bundak said, “Our students turn in to an experience the theoretical education they receive in our faculty of medicine via fully equipped infrastructure facilities at Dr. Suat Günsel our University of Kyrenia Hospital, including basic sciences, anatomy, biochemistry, microbiology and histology laboratories. We train our students as physicians of the future.”

Prof. Dr. Rüveyde Bundak referred to the meaning of the white coat as “purity and cleanliness” and advised prospective physicians not to forget the responsibility brought with the apron throughout their professional lives and to respect ethical values.
